What’s free on the Epic Games Store this week?

Loop Hero is one of this summer’s best free games on PC

PC gamers with an Epic Games Store account (it’s free) can now pick up Loop Hero, a roguelike auto-battler that won critical acclaim for its focus on creating a world that supports your hero’s success rather than simply acquiring and arranging a lineup of the best cards. The PC game is available for free right now until Aug. 10. Loop Hero is joined by Bloons TD 6, a tower defense game that launched in 2021.

The next free games coming to Epic Games Store members will be Paradox Interactive’s grand strategy sim Europa Univsersalis 4 from 2013 and Orwell: Keeping an Eye on You, a mystery game in the mold of Papers, Please and the Beholder series, in which players investigate a bombing plot while struggling with the morality of the technology they use to peer into the lives of the suspects. Europa Universalis 4 and Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You will be available beginning Aug. 10.

The Epic Games Store free games are available to anyone who has an Epic Games Store account; they’ll be added to your library and launched from there. Epic has been giving away free games on a weekly basis, as an inducement to join the store (and play Epic’s own games, such as Fortnite), since it launched in December 2018.

When does the Epic Games Store update with free games?

Typically, Epic refreshes its lineup of free games every Thursday at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.
